GRACE HUDSON MUSEUM
will be having a special event for First Friday Art Walk in January. Bob Rhoades, retired art and printmaking instructor at the College of the Redwoods, will provide an informal introduction to a variety of printmaking techniques, with an emphasis on lithography. Refreshments will be served. This event is free. The Museum will also be showing its newest exhibit, “The First Ambassadors,” which features rare lithographic portraits and fascinating life stories of distinguished Native American leaders who came to Washington, D.C. to negotiate for tribal rights in the early 19th century. I have attached an image from the show of Payta-kootha, a Shawanoe warrior, a lithograph (c. 1835) based on Charles Bird King’s earlier oil paintings.
