A visit to Ukiah native Tim S. Poma’s art studio will bring you inside what’s been going on his creative mind for the past several years. Poma originally found his artistic outlet through photography before finding his affinity for painting. What started out as chaotic paint flinging became more focused and recognizable creations. He recreates his abstract versions of reality on canvas with latex paint using nothing more than his hands, a stick or a squeeze bottle full of vibrant colors. Tim holds visions of peace, tranquility and love for the world despite the stressful and sometimes chaotic circumstances the world he finds himself in. His distinctive style has a way of allowing each of these realities to dance in harmony with one another on the canvas. His paintings are beautifully chaotic and perfectly imperfect. Each “mistake” empowered with the opportunity to become something more beautiful. Poma’s creativity is not only seen in the studio but throughout the Ukiah community. He teaches youth and adult classes through the City of Ukiah Recreation department, hosts the creative art zone and live community mural at the Mendocino Youth Project’s annual Youth Action Party in Downtown Ukiah, and has mentored students at South Valley School with their mural “Correcting the ship” in front of the school.

presents Bella Varducci – Almost immediately upon learning how to hold a pencil, I was drawing, fascinated by the visual world around me. As a child I devoted numerous hours to practicing portrait drawing, but by the time I had reached high school an urge to explore new artistic mediums and forms had begun to manifest. I began taking art classes at Mendocino College in my sophomore year, including clay sculpture, life drawing, design, painting, and dance. Being able to expand and advance my art skills at Mendocino College over the past few years has been an incredible and invaluable experience. Being a student at Mendocino College has not only helped to solidify my decision to pursue a professional art career, but has also given me the opportunity to discover my passions for dance and choreography and form connections with an amazing and supportive community of artists and art instructors. This past fall I decided to follow my passion for art and applied to my dream school, the PrattMWP in Utica, NY, as well as the Cornish College of the Arts and the Pacific Northwest College of Art, to all of which I was accepted. I plan on attending the PrattMWP as a freshman communication design student in the fall of 2018 before finishing my last two years at the Pratt’s main campus in Brooklyn. I am incredibly ecstatic for what the future holds and for continuing my journey as a visual artist, choreographer, mover, and observer throughout the years to come.
