Join Andrea and Mo as they celebrate the 304 Birthday month with their favorite Birthday artist Timothy Poma Ukiah native, Tim S. Poma, has been throwing paint at canvases in creative ways for over four years now. In the beginning of discovering he enjoyed painting, many said his style was very reminiscent of Jackson Pollock.  From that initial stage of chaotic paint flinging, he continued to focus his energy towards making his creations more recognizable.  Now he recreates abstract versions of reality on canvas with latex paint using nothing more than his hands, a stick or a squeeze bottle full of vibrant colors.

A visit to Poma’s studio would bring you face to face with the artist; barefoot and elbows deep in a can of paint. A combination of finger painting and dripping colors all contribute to his very unique style.

Tim holds visions of peace, tranquility and love for the world despite the stressful and sometimes chaotic circumstances the world finds itself in. His unique style has a way of allowing each of these realities to dance in harmony with one another on the canvas. His paintings are beautifully chaotic; perfectly imperfect. Each mistake is empowered with the opportunity to become something more beautiful. “There are no mistakes,” Poma says.

For the past four years, Tim has hosted a creative art zone and live community mural at the Youth Action Party in Downtown Ukiah.  This experience has brought his studio experience out into the community for kids and adults alike. He has also volunteered his time at South Valley School helping some of the youth create a mural which is now on the front of the school titled “Correcting the ship”

W Real Estate

Join the agents at W Real Estate will have special guest Ellen Boulanger. As a typical modern day artist Ellen lives in a world filled with routine, mundane activities and a lot of responsibilities yet she still manages time for artwork. Creativity is her source of spirituality, a kind of mediation. Painting, weaving, photography, stained glass and kiln fired glass are all forms of art that Ellen has turned to over her life. She was introduced to Plein Air Painting and was hooked. Plein air painting is a way to quickly and spontaneously capture the true effects of color and light by painting directly from nature. Ellen paints the views that surround her and capture a moment in time to record the ever changing scenery. A show not to be missed.
