Make the Grace Hudson Museum one of your stops on February First Friday as we celebrate the opening of our new exhibition, The Art of Collecting: New Additions to the Grace Hudson Museum. Come see the assortment of paintings, photographs, Pomo material culture, and other historic items that have been acquired by the Museum over the past five or so years through donation or purchase. All the galleries will be open, as will the Wild Gardens. Plus live music. Light refreshments will be served. Public remarks around 6:00.

Corner Gallery 201 S State Street Ukiah

Watercolorist Mary Monroe is the featured front window artists at the Corner Gallery for the month of February.
The title of her show “Memories of Africa and the Nature Around Me – Giving Strength to Create Healing Art” is a summary
of her recovery from the devastation of the Redwood Valley fire of 2017.  Mary not only lost her home but all of her paintings. Mother Nature recovers sooner than humans so Mary was able to enjoy to wonders of nature returning to her property. With help from friends providing supplies and wanting to recreate memories of her time in Zambia Mary created the works showing this month. Quite a remarkable selection of botanical and landscape images.  Her slides and photographs of her time in Africa were destroyed in the fire.  She was able to depict special memories from that time through her watercolors.

Also featured this month on the Young Artist Wall Afton Edwards, a local young woman working in mixed media and drawings.

The First Friday opening of Mary Monroe’s art show is on February 4 from 5-8pm, at the Corner  Gallery, located at 201 S State St in Ukiah. Live music will be provided by Pierre Archain. All county protocols regarding COVID will be observed, including required masking and social distancing.

“The Face of Love ”  is the featured exhibit for the month of February. An exhibit of portraits and images of love was a change from our usual Quick Draw live drawing event.  The Gallery is showing of portraits in various mediums  and a wall of images of love in celebration of February as the romantic month.
All county protocols regarding COVID will be observed, including required masking and social distancing.
